Your mailbox reaching its capacity limit is a common occurrence that can hinder your ability to receive new emails. The notification "mailbox full" is an indication that your allotted storage space on the server has been exhausted. This means new incoming messages can't be stored, which might leave you in a position where you can send out emails but can't receive any.
This scenario typically unfolds when your mailbox accumulates a high volume of retained emails, which could be from various sources like newsletters, promotional messages, or spam. Large attachments can also rapidly consume your available space.
Why Your Mailbox Might Be Full
-
Promotional and Marketing Emails: Subscriptions to numerous marketing lists can fill your mailbox quickly with updates and offers.
-
Spam Emails: Unsolicited junk emails, if not filtered out, can clog your inbox.
-
Large Attachments: Sending and receiving emails with large attachments can deplete your mailbox capacity.
-
Infrequent Inbox Maintenance: Not regularly cleaning out old or unnecessary emails will lead to a full mailbox over time.

Increasing Mailbox Quota
If you frequently hit your mailbox limit, you may consider increasing your mailbox quota. Here’s how you can do it on Hostyt:
-
Log in to your Hostyt cPanel or HestiaCP account.
-
Navigate to the Email Accounts section.
-
Find the email account you wish to modify.
-
Select Manage and scroll down to Storage.
-
Input a new mailbox quota or select the option for Unlimited if you're on a Hostyt cPanel hosting plan with no limit restrictions.
-
Click Update Email Settings to apply changes.
Note: It’s important to remember that keeping your inbox organized and periodically cleaning out older emails can prevent the full mailbox issue from recurring. Setting up a system of folders and regularly archiving emails can also help in managing your mailbox efficiently. If you are using HestiaCP, keep in mind that there might be different storage limits compared to cPanel accounts.
